The Daily Meal
Our biggest volunteer need! Prepare food, serve it on the line or in the dining room, greet our guests, help with housekeeping, cleaning or laundry, and much more! Volunteers needed every weekday!
Packing, Prepping & More
Bag groceries for distribution at our Food Pantry, assemble hygiene kits, restock the Library, pick up food donations, and other tasks as needed.
Special Projects
Lead a drive for goods or funds... Bring a group from your office, church or civic organization... Even knit a hat! We welcome special projects, big or small!
Student Service Hours
Need service hours for course credit? Students age 12 and up can volunteer with a parent or guardian present; 16+ can volunteer alone. Call us at (828) 327-4828 to get started on your service hours!
Donate!
- Drop off donations of food or hygiene products during business hours
- Lead a donation drive for us at your business, church, etc. (goods or funds)
- Shop our Amazon Wish List
- Make a monetary donation. Your gifts go to support our services and purchase food from the Second Harvest Metrolina food bank (Our cost is never more than 16¢ a pound!)
Special Donations
- Make a gift in memory or honor of a special person. We'll send a letter informing them of your thoughtfulness – not the amount
- Make your birthday a "benefit" – ask friends to give to the Soup Kitchen instead of buying birthday gifts! (Wedding gifts too!)
- In an obituary, ask for donations in lieu of flowers to go to the Hickory Soup Kitchen
- Remember the Hickory Soup Kitchen in your will or estate
