We serve a hot, delicious lunch every weekday to Hickory's hungry and homeless. In 2023, our average was more than 150 people coming through our doors each day, totaling over 80,000 plates last year. Stop by and join us for lunch to see, and taste! our work for yourself!
When surveyed about their needs, our guests said their #2 concern (after food) was a safe place to get clean. Our building features private shower stalls, similar to those at your local gym. About 15 people use our facilities each day between 8am and 10am Monday through Friday. We also provide towels, soap, and other hygiene products for men and women.
For families who need a little extra help, we offer free groceries once each month. Contents may vary by season and what has been donated, but we try to include fresh produce, fruit, and meats along with easy-to-store items like bread, staples and canned goods. Our pantry is open 8:30am until 11:30am Monday through Friday
Feeding minds and imaginations! Our guests are free to "check out" books or magazines from our Library. Kids' books are popular!
Thanks to generous donors, the Hickory Soup Kitchen owns a Large Van – perfect for picking up large donations like bushels of produce or other large quantity or heavy items. Call (828) 327-4828 to schedule a pickup!
